Elon Musk, who serves as chief executive of SpaceX and Tesla, said the companies have each formed committees to discuss a potential merger, and that he supports the idea.
So, there's been a lot of reporting, a lot of anticipation of a, of a merger with Tesla. I I I realize maybe you may be limited on what you can say, but if we take a step back, you know, how do you think about the the pros and cons, uh, of a potential combination and as part of that framework, are there any roadblocks that we need to address before embarking on it?
Both SpaceX and Tesla have formed special committees to discuss this idea, um, at the request of shareholders. And, uh, that these special committees are uh, consists of of independent, uh, sh in- independent directors. And, because I'm a conflicted party, I can't actually be in the discussions of the special committees. So it's this, it's it's sort of a it's an odd kabuki dance, uh, where two two two groups of people are talking and I I can't be in the conversation. Um, I I I mean, I I I don't think we should necessarily assume that, uh, that it it's it I think some people out there assume that a SpaceX and Tesla merger is is a certainty, and I I think that would be overstating it. Uh, the uh, you know, do do I think it would be a good idea? Yes. Um, but at the end of the day, uh, we we the the shareholders have to be supportive of this and, um, and particularly on the on the Tesla side, we will need a a 50% vote of all shares, not just those who vote, but of all shareholders. And and that's a that's quite a high hurdle to to try to achieve. So, um, and and, uh, and I I can just say that at this point that the special committees have have not reached agreement on an on on the on the terms of any transaction and and and obviously there's no guarantee that they will.
