Tesla is preparing a dedicated Tesla Semi service center in Las Vegas, according to a new building permit filed with Clark County, Nevada.
It’s one of the first concrete signs of the service network Tesla needs to support its electric Class 8 truck, which only entered volume production two weeks ago.
What the permit shows
The Clark County record (BD26-39451) describes the project in plain terms: “Tesla Semi Service Center. Tenant Improvement in new shell building.”
The site is 3780 N Las Vegas Blvd, part of the LV Logistics One industrial development on the northeast side of the valley, between I-15 and Nellis Air Force Base. The property owner is listed as L V Logistics One Property Owner LP, a Dallas-based entity, so Tesla is a tenant here and not building from scratch.
The application lists Tesla as the tenant and classifies the use as a “Repair Garage,” with the work type marked as a remodel under the 2024 building code. Its status is “Awaiting Plans,” which means the application is in but Tesla hasn’t submitted its construction drawings yet. So this isn’t opening next month.
The neighboring building in the same development, at 3790 N Las Vegas Blvd, gives a good idea of what Tesla is moving into. It’s a 152,256-square-foot logistics building completed in 2024 with 32-foot clear height, 20 dock-high doors, and a 122-foot truck court, according to its lease listing. That’s the kind of space you need to pull Class 8 tractors in and out all day.
Why Las Vegas
Las Vegas sits on the I-15 corridor, one of the busiest freight routes in the West, linking the Southern California ports and warehouses of the Inland Empire to Las Vegas and on to Salt Lake City. The run from the Inland Empire to Las Vegas is roughly 230 to 270 miles, well within the 325-mile rating of the Standard Range Semi.
It also fills a gap. When Tesla added 64 planned Megacharger sites to its map in February, Nevada got only two, and the only operating Nevada site is at Giga Nevada in Sparks, about 440 miles north.
Tesla launched volume production of the Semi at its new Sparks factory late last month, claiming capacity for 50,000 trucks a year. Customers at the event included PepsiCo, DHL, US Foods, and ABF, and Einride ordered 500 trucks in August.
But trucks need to be fixed somewhere. Tesla has shown plans for about 20 dedicated Semi service locations across the US, and this is the first one we’ve found in a public permit filing.
If you run an EV, or a fleet of them, home and business solar can cut your charging costs to nearly zero. With electricity rates up almost 10% last year and expected to keep climbing, going solar is one of the best ways to protect yourself against rising costs. And with lease and PPA options, you can do it with zero upfront cost and start saving immediately. If you want to find the best deal, check out EnergySage. It’s a free service with hundreds of pre-vetted installers competing for your business, so you save 20 to 30% compared to going it alone. No sales calls until you pick an installer.
